President & Chief Executive Officer

Beth ZacharyAs President & Chief Executive Officer of White Memorial Medical Center, a 350-bed not-for-profit hospital in the highly populated, predominantly Latino community of Boyle Heights, Beth Zachary’s positive influence, keen business sense and commitment to the community have been a significant driving force behind the hospital’s ability to meet the community’s healthcare needs.

Under Ms. Zachary’s leadership, White Memorial Medical Center is nearing the completion of a 10-year major campus rebuilding project. The project includes construction of a new medical office building and adjacent parking structure, which opened in 2004, and a new six-story patient tower that will open in April 2006. The entire campus construction project will be completed in 2008.

Additionally, under her leadership, the hospital has developed partnerships to provide on-site healthcare clinics in local schools, and taken a leading role in building a Healthier Communities partnership with more than 60 local business and community organizations to make positive changes for critical community needs. Ms. Zachary and White Memorial Medical Center have partnered with TELACU and Rio Hondo College on a scholarship program that will benefit youth and help ease the region’s nursing shortage. Other community partnerships that have evolved under Ms. Zachary’s leadership are the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center, the East Los Angeles Center for Diabetes, The MAOF/White Memorial Rainbow Children’s Center and additional collaborations with the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation.

Ms. Zachary has also overseen efforts that have put White Memorial at the forefront of quality, service and leadership among healthcare organizations, and has guided the vision and strategic direction of the hospital. White Memorial Medical Center has earned four California Eureka Awards for Performance Excellence from the California Council on Excellence.

Ms. Zachary participated on the boards in a number state and regional organizations that focus on strengthening health care services.

She holds a master’s degree in management from Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, California. She resides in Pasadena with her husband Jim and their daughter Alexandra.
