Transportation Services

If you don't drive a car, don't worry! There are many different transportation options. Many are free or no cost.

If you are coming to White Memorial Medical Center, we provide free patient transportation for some patients, with certain restrictions. Call 323-260-5837 for more information.

If you are going to a doctor's appointment or need to get to the pharmacy or run other errands, several organizations in the city provide transportation for seniors:

  • DASH bus service is provided by the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). DASH has routes in many different communities, including Boyle Heights, East L.A., Lincoln Heights, Chinatown, downtown L.A. and others. Call 323-808-2273 for more information.

  • CityRide, also offered by LADOT, is a membership program that allows you to purchase transit scrip to pay for Metro bus, taxi and/or Dial-a Ride services. It is available to seniors 65 years and older or people with disabilities, who live in the city of L.A. You must apply for membership. Call 323-808-7433 for more information.

  • East Los Angeles Dial-A-Ride provides free transportation for seniors 60 years or older and people with disabilities who live in the unincorporated county area of East L.A. Call 323-560-4646 for more information.

  • Access Paratransit is a curb-to-curb shared ride service for people unable to use accessible bus or train services in L.A. County. You must be evaluated in person for eligibility (the service will provide transportation to and from your eligibility appointment). Call 800-827-0829 for more information.

  • The MTA provides regular bus service throughout L.A. County. Call 800-266-6883 for bus and rail routes and schedule information.

  • Ride information for specialized public and private transportation services is available by calling 800-431-7882 (TDD 800-431-9731). Tell the Ride Info operator where your trip starts and ends and a specialist will provide information on public and private providers with transportation options, including local Dial-A-Rides, in L.A. County.

  • The city of L.A. provides a citywide toll free number that provides access to information on more than 1,500 non-emergency city services, including senior services. Call 311. For emergency services please call 911.
