Danylle Kappler, M.D., received her bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2004 from the University of Puget Sound. She received her medical degree from the Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine in 2009. Her volunteer activities have included serving as student trustee, delegate to the Oregon Medical Association and member of a Health Policy Interest Group, which included participating in a local health fair during “Cover the Uninsured” week. Prior to medical school, she was the clinic coordinator of a free, walk-in health clinic in Tacoma, Washington. Her hobbies include sailing, skiing, road cycling, cooking and traveling. |

Tiffany Wong, M.D., received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley in 2003. She received her medical degree in 2009 from the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. During the time, Dr. Wong also served as the president of the Ob/Gyn Society, a volunteer for JeffHOPE, a Jefferson medical student organization that runs free clinics five days a week at Philadelphia homeless shelters, and the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association which is devoted to supporting the local Asian community. Her hobbies include photography, traveling, snowboarding, acting, journalism, movies and concerts. She speaks Cantonese. |

Alice Serou, M.D., received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Michigan in 2004. She was awarded her medical degree by Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2009. Volunteer activities included serving as a health care worker at the Cass Clinic. Additionally, she participated in the Code Blue Program, which taught elementary school children in the Highland Park Community Schools to avoid risky behaviors, make healthy decisions and build self-esteem. Her hobbies include piano, salsa, ballet, hiking and yoga. She speaks French. |

SNMA is an organization dedicated to ensuring culturally sensitive medical education and increasing the number of minority students entering medical school. We achieved these goals by celebrating cultural holidays, participating in community events and maintaining a presence in local high schools and colleges to encourage young students to enter medicine. |

What started out as a simple desire for French language immersion became the establishing of authentic friendships and professional involvement with the Ob/Gyn department at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The friendly and sincere welcome I received further fueled my interest in international women’s health, and I look forward to returning a third time and participating in the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) this coming year as well. |
