Community Education

The White Memorial Medical Center cares for the community and strongly believes in the importance of prevention. Diabetes is fast growing in our community and prevention is the best way to overcome it.

Healthy Eating Lifestyle Program (H.E.L.P.)  

This is a childhood obesity prevention program for children ages 5 to 12 and their families. The program is FREE to those that meet these three simple qualifications:
  • Children need to be between the ages of 5 to 12.
  • The child must be overweight according to age and gender.
  • A parent/guardian must accompany the child to each workshop.
The program is designed to help overweight children and their families adopt healthier eating and physical activity habits. The instructors are Registered Dietitians along with Health Educators. Children and their families have fun while learning about nutrition through games and hands-on activities. If interested in the program, simply call (323) 307-8921. Physician Referral is not required.

Living with Diabetes (LWD) 

We offer a FREE class, Living with Diabetes, in English and Spanish.  This is a two hour class for persons living with diabetes  or pre-diabetes and their family members.  Join this interactive class where you can learn an overview of diabetes taught by a Certified Diabetes Educator.
