National Patient Safety Goals
One of the key requirements of being accredited by the Joint Commission is adhering to the National Patient Safety Goals. Since their implementation into healthcare, WMMC has actively participated in educating patient care staff through in-services, training programs and ongoing internal communication. By monitoring our own performance, we are able to recognize areas of improvement, and implement new techniques to continually ensure our patients’ safety.
Listed below are the patient safety goals WMMC follows:
- Accuracy of patient identification
- Effectiveness of communication among caregivers
- Improve the safety of using medications
- Reduce the risk of health care associated infections
- Accurately and completely reconcile medications across the continuum of care
- Reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls.
- Encourage patient's active involvement in their own care as a patient safety strategy
