Leaping to Safety and Quality

Leapfrog Group is a research organization that studies the best practices of hospitals across the nation. It is an association of large employers in the U.S. committed to helping to improve safety, quality and customer value.

Leapfrog encourages hospitals to make significant improvements by recognizing and rewarding those that perform the best. They examine why some hospitals have better outcomes than others. Then, they set standards for hospitals on best practices and steps they can take to improve patient care. From their research, they have formed a set of 27 safe practices for hospital to follow in order to provide better care.

In 2005 Consumers Digest magazine ranked WMMC among the country’s 50 “exceptional hospitals” for safety based on the Leapfrog results.
