Clinical Quality Report
ICU Quality and Outcomes
Another example of our commitment to quality care is White Memorials
investment in Project Impact, a quality improvement program
for intensive care units (ICU). Members of the Society of
Critical Care Medicine developed Project Impact. This program
allows ICUs to measure their patient care and quality outcomes,
and compare their results with other hospitals nationwide.
ICUs involved in this program concentrate on specific improvements
in certain critical care areas.
For
example, WMMC tracks the survival rates of ICU patients,
who, based on all their health risks, were not expected to
survive. As of July 2006, 25 percent of our ICU patients
who were not expected to survive lived. Also, we track the
acute kidney failure rate of ICU patients.
