WMMC Celebrates Grand Opening of New Specialty Care Tower With Donors, Physicians & Dignitaries

Major donors, dignitaries and physicians helped mark a milestone in White Memorial’s 93-year history, as the hospital celebrated the formal grand opening of its new specialty care tower with the first of two events. On Thursday, April 6, they gathered at 6:30 p.m. for a formal program of speakers, a catered meal held in a beautifully decorated white tent, a dramatic laser light show, and tours of the new specialty care tower.

David Lizarraga, Chair of the White Memorial Capital Campaign and President and CEO of TELACU hosted as Master of Ceremonies. Guest speakers included Donald Ammon, President and CEO of Adventist Health, Robert Carmen, Executive Vice President and COO of Adventist Health, Beth Zachary, President and CEO of White Memorial, Ramsay Nucho, MD, President of WMMC Medical Staff, George Ramirez, MD, Senior Vice-Chair of WMMC Capital Campaign, and Elder Larry Caviness, Vice Chair of WMMC Governing Board.

The high point of the evening came when Eva Guadiz, RN, a 40-year WMMC employee who works in the recovery room, helped Albert Deininger, Vice President of Construction, flip a switch that began a dramatic light show and a symbolic lighting of the building that took the place of a traditional ribbon-cutting.
