White Memorial Celebrates Grand Opening of New Specialty Care Tower


The official ribbon cutting was conducted by David Lizarraga, TELACU CEO and Chairman of White Memorial's Capital Campaign, Robert G. Carmen, Adventist Health Executive VP, Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Beth Zachary, White Memorial Medical Center President and CEO, Councilman Jose Huizar, Ambassador Ruben Beltrán, Consul General Mexico.


More than 1,000 members of the community celebrated the grand opening of White Memorial Medical Center’s new specialty care tower on Sunday, April 9, 2006. The celebration included an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, food, entertainment and tours of the new tower.


Singer Ceci De La Hoya, sister of boxing champion Oscar De La Hoya, delighted the audience with her performance at the grand opening celebration.


The crowd enjoyed authentic mariachi music during the event.


Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa thanked White Memorial for its commitment to the community and its dedication to quality service during the grand opening celebration.


Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, 14th District Councilman Jose Huizar and Ambassador Ruben Beltrán, Consul General of Mexico, honor local students who were winners of an art contest sponsored by White Memorial. Their artworks were displayed at the grand opening celebration.


David Lizárraga, CEO of TELACU and Chairman of White Memorial's Capital Campaign, poses next to the rendering of the sign displaying his family’s name commemorating his generous contribution to the hospital’s north lobby entrance, which will open in 2008.


Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, with White Memorial Governing Board Chairman Robert Carmen, expressed her appreciation to White Memorial for its care of her family and its commitment to the community.


Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa received a loving welcome from one of the many seniors who attended the grand opening event, amid cheers from the rest of the crowd.
