The steel building frame towers over the current main White Memorial hospital building. Approximately a year after the new hospital is completed, the current hospital building will be torn down.

White Memorial celebrated the placing of the last steel beam with a "Topping Out" ceremony on March 17, 2004. The beam was first signed by employees, physicians, Board members, community members and hospital visitors. The evergreen tree on the right side of the beam is a tradition among construction workers and symbolizes life and growth of the building.
