Academic Program
Our clinical venues provide over 3400 deliveries, 4600
surgical cases and 27,800 outpatient visits each year.
Below is an outline of the academic program by year.
PGY-1
- Obstetrics - 12 weeks
- Gynecology - 15 weeks
- Ward Medicine - 4 weeks
- Medical Intensive Care - 4 weeks
- Ambulatory Medicine/Geriatrics - 4 weeks
- Emergency Medicine - 2 weeks
- Neonatal Intensive Care - 2 weeks
- Anesthesia - 1 week
- Night Float (divided) - 8 weeks
PGY-2
- Obstetrics/Ultrasound - 16 weeks
- Gynecology/Colposcopy - 12 weeks
- Gynecologic Oncology at Cedars Sinai - 16 weeks
- Night Float (divided) - 8 weeks
PGY-3
- Maternal-Fetal Medicine / Genetics - 16 weeks
- Obstetrics (Acting Senior) - 8 weeks
- Gynecologic Surgery and Reproductive Medicine at Sunrise Hospital / Sher Institute - 16 weeks
- Reproductive Medicine at Sher Institute, Glendale - 4 weeks
- Night Float (divided) - 8 weeks
PGY-4
- Chief of Obstetrics - 16 weeks
- Chief of Gynecology, including Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Urogynecology - 16 weeks
- Administrative Chief Resident, including rotations in Breast Disease and Oncology - 12 weeks
- Night Float (divided) - 8 weeks
Research
Each resident is required to complete a clinical research project during his/her residency training. The resident will present his/her project during the senior year in a form that can be submitted for publication.
Moonlighting
Moonlighting opportunities are available both at WMMC and off-campus. These options may be sought provided that they are prospectively approved by the program director and they do not interfere with resident duties and responsibilities.
