Breast Cancer Early Detection Program
White Memorial Medical Center is offering no-cost breast cancer screenings through the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center.
The Breast Cancer Early Detection Program is open to women who:
- are over 40 years.
- have a low income.
- have no health plan coverage or Medi-Cal, or who have health plan coverage but cannot use it because it is too expensive.
How the Program Works
Yearly breast exams will be given to women between 40 and 65 years old. The exam, given by a nurse or doctor, will determine if there are any lumps or other problems. Some women will also have a mammogram. If a lump is found, additional tests may be required to see if the lump is cancerous.
To participate in the program, an application must be filled out. All information is private and proof of income or citizenship is not required. Services are free for women who qualify.
To schedule a breast exam, call 323-260-5768 to make an appointment. Please make an appointment soon. Do it for yourself. Do it for those who love you. Just do it!
