White Memorial Medical Center Launches Tu Mundo Hoy
Health Show on Spanish Language TV

Going Beyond Hospital Walls and Taking our Message to the Community

LOS ANGELES, CA – January 9, 2014 – White Memorial Medical Center (WMMC) is pleased to announce the launch of its very own TV show Tu Mundo Hoy airing on KJLA Channel 57. The hour-long daily television program includes timely health stories with a focus on disease prevention and airs at 2:00 pm Monday –Friday, immediately followed by CNN Latino.

Tu Mundo Hoy provides viewers with information they can use as they face a variety of health issues, helping them to better understand and enhance their well-being. The health component of the show features WMMC doctors and services and provides health education such as how to prevent diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other chronic illnesses. Other segments will specifically address issues related to Hispanic’s overall health and well-being.

The daily program is hosted by Emmy award-winning host and local radio personality Carlos Alvarez and long-time L.A. reporter, Ofelia de la Torre.

"We're excited to bring Tu Mundo Hoy to our community. The program will present local experts to discuss topics such as the latest news on Health Care Reform (ObamaCare), disease prevention and other timely topics to help give viewers a clear understanding of the issues,” says Beth Zachary, WMMC’s President and CEO.

Tu Mundo Hoy will help educate our community about current health concerns they may be facing so that they can live a healthier life.”

White Memorial Medical Center has been a part of the community for generations and keeping the community healthy has been the mission of WMMC since it was founded by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1913. The hospital is a thriving part of the neighborhood, presenting health fairs and other community services throughout the year. The launch of Tu Mundo Hoy brings health education right into Latino homes, giving viewers information they can use on subjects they are concerned about, thus, extending the services of the hospital.

Tu Mundo Hoy will examine some of the many services offered at WMMC. Viewers will meet some of the doctors and learn about the comprehensive services offered at WMMC as they watch segments covering various health issues. Topics will include preventive steps individuals can take to reduce their risk of developing certain diseases. Also tips on general medical care that they can use to stay healthy.

Tu Mundo Hoy is produced by CentroNetProductions. Veronica Nichols, CentroNetProductions' Director of Business Development, adds, "We're breaking down issues that are affecting the daily lives of Latino's to really get our audience in-the-know."

The first season of the new television show will run through October 2014.
